New addition

Barton & Hendry have recruited one of its newest but most experienced members of staff, Mr Alan Cox. Alan qualified as a solicitor back in 1986 and has worked for a variety of small to medium sized firms across Lanarkshire, Glasgow and the Central Belt throughout his career. Initially, Alan trained with a large city centre firm in Glasgow, but thereafter worked as an assistant in many different areas of law, before largely specialising in civil law.

Alan has considerable experience in FAMILY and MATRIMONIAL work, and has for over a decade carried out appointments as a Bar Reporter for cases involving disputed child residence and child contact issues before Hamilton Sheriff Court. He has also acted as a Curator ad litem, representing children in such cases, along with regularly acting as Curator ad litem and Reporting Officer in adoption cases at Hamilton.

Over the years Alan has gained experience in EMPLOYMENT cases, in PERSONAL INJURY work and also in CRIMINAL cases. in one of his most recent positions, he did extensive work before the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland, and again held post as Curator ad litem, representing patients before the Tribunal when they were unable to instruct a lawyer.

Alan has appeared in District/J.P Courts and Sheriff Courts far and near, along with instructing cases before the Court of Sessions and High Court. He is delighted to be joining the team at Barton & Hendry, and hopes his many and varied skills will compliment those of the other members of the team.

Away from work, Alan took up running late in life, and now regularly competes in races from 5k to the recent completion of his first ever marathon. He is also involved with his local church, and enjoys the gym and swimming, as well as time with his family.
